Caring for Our Survivors and Helping Them Take Care of Themselves
With the global pandemic taking its toll on both food security at the center and on the livelihoods of their survivors' families, the Center of Hope has taken initiatives to address both through sustainable solutions. Project: Sustainability in the Center of Hope is meant to minimize shelter expenses and reduce its carbon footprint while teaching the survivors both manual, social, and technical skills that will benefit them upon reintegration.
In an effort to reduce the risk of vulnerable populations to human trafficking and engage the younger generations in the fight against it, Voice of the Free launched the #iFIGHTAgainstCOVID19 campaign which aims to intensify the iFIGHT Movement using creative IEC materials and expand its reach through different media platforms. The iFIGHT Quarantips, Parenting QuaranTIPS, and iFIGHT Vlogs are being released via VF's social media accounts since late April.
The restriction of movement of non-essential goods and temporary suspension of market hubs compromising the Bantay Komunidad sa Dumandan’s (Community Watch Group in Dumandan) social enterprise takes a toll on its members. But despite the challenges brought upon by the pandemic and lockdowns, BK Dumandan members devised a way to turn their situation into an opportunity and to continue making a dignified living.
