According to a situation analysis by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), there is a rise in the trafficking in persons for the purpose of forced criminality in Southeast Asia. Perpetrators use a combination of:

BY MEANS of deceptive promises of good working conditions, high salary, regular bonuses, free accommodation, fraudulent job offers in customer service data entry, administering drugs to abduct, coercion and physical punishment, identify and travel document confiscation, restriction of cell phone communication
FOR THE PURPOSE OF criminal activities such as scam centers involved in online gambling, cryptocurrency, online money laundering and romance applications, or being forced into long working hours, salary deductions, being sold as slaves between companies, debt bondage and sexual exploitation inside of online scam centers
